BUFORD, Ga. — Buford opened Region 8-AAAAAAA play by adding another milestone to its unbeaten start, defeating Seckinger 58-0 Friday night for the program's 20th consecutive victory.
The Wolves improved to 5-0 overall and 1-0 in the region while recording their first shutout of the season. Dating to the closing stretch of 2024, Buford has won 32 of its past 33 games, including a perfect 15-0 run to the 2025 GHSA Class 6A state championship.
Buford established control with three touchdowns in the first quarter. Silas Nuckles opened the scoring on a 6-yard run with 9:43 remaining, and Jameer Cantrell followed with a 5-yard touchdown run that doubled the advantage.
The defense created the next scoring opportunity. Jackson Locke's pass was tipped and intercepted by Joshua Echols, giving the Wolves possession on a short field. A.J. Granville finished the ensuing drive with a rushing touchdown for a 21-0 lead.
Krystian Walcott added a sack before the quarter ended, continuing a defensive effort that kept Seckinger from establishing any sustained momentum.
Evan Griffeth connected on a 41-yard field goal early in the second quarter to extend the lead to 24-0. The Jaguars later moved into Buford territory behind a completion from Locke to Ben Cummings and a 20-yard run by Damarion Sims, but Brock Lowe recovered a fumble to stop the drive.
Seckinger regained possession when Annyus Dixon intercepted D.J. Hunter, only for the Buford defense to force a punt. The Wolves responded with another scoring drive as Keshon Blow broke a 17-yard gain and Brayden Thompson found Cantrell for a 5-yard touchdown. It was Cantrell's second trip to the end zone.
Buford struck again during the final minute of the half. Hunter completed a first-down pass to Bryce Thompson before connecting with Nuckles for a 30-yard touchdown, sending the Wolves to the locker room with a 38-0 advantage.
Jalen Brewster opened the second half with a sack, helping Buford take over at the Seckinger 38. Michael Beck Brosius completed the short-field possession with a 17-yard touchdown run, pushing the margin to 45-0 with 5:32 left in the third quarter.
Hunter later hit Ian Chafin for a 40-yard gain to the Seckinger 2-yard line. Brandon Gwin found Reese Holland for a touchdown on the following play, giving Buford a 51-0 lead entering the fourth.
Brian Lawrence completed the scoring late in the game with a 7-yard touchdown pass to Armani Osorio.
The Wolves have outscored their first five opponents 179-46 while navigating a schedule that has included Gainesville, Mallard Creek, Miami Central, Grayson and Seckinger. Buford entered Friday ranked among the top five nationally by multiple outlets.
Buford has a bye next week before returning to Region 8-AAAAAAA competition Friday, Oct. 9, at Dacula. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
