Phillip Beard Stadium
Phillip Beard Stadium, home of Buford football, opened in 2025 as a state-of-the-art centerpiece for Buford Athletics. Built as a $62 million venue with a reported seating capacity of 10,000, the stadium gives the Wolves a championship-level home that matches the tradition and standard of one of Georgia’s elite football programs.
The stadium is named in honor of Phillip Beard, City Commissioner and Chairman of the Board, whose decades of leadership and service have helped guide the growth and development of the City of Buford and Buford City Schools. His name on the stadium reflects a lasting commitment to education, athletics, civic pride, and the standard of excellence connected with Buford.
Located inside Phillip Beard Stadium, Dexter Wood Field honors one of the defining figures in the modern history of Buford football. Wood served as Buford’s head football coach from 1995 to 2005, helping build the foundation for the Wolves’ rise into one of Georgia’s premier high school football programs. During his tenure, Buford posted a 118-17 record and captured three state championships, establishing a standard of toughness, discipline, and championship expectation that continues to shape the program today.
The facility features a synthetic turf playing surface, premium seating, 15 suites, a large double-sided video board, modern press and media areas, and a 10,500-square-foot event space that includes a trophy wall celebrating Buford’s championship tradition. Designed to elevate the Friday night experience, the venue serves student-athletes, coaches, families, alumni, and fans with one of the premier high school football environments in the country.
