BUFORD, Ga. - Buford paired an early home run from LG Goldin with a two-hit shutout from Taylor Jackson, then put the game away with an eight-run fifth inning to defeat Seckinger 11-0 on Thursday, September 24.
Goldin finished 3-for-4, homering to center field in the first inning and adding two singles in the fifth. Her opening-inning swing helped give the Wolves a 3-0 lead, providing all the support Jackson would need.
Jackson held Seckinger scoreless through five innings, striking out six and walking two. The right-hander limited the Jaguars to singles from Leilani Erroa and Addison Szymanski as Buford carried its three-run advantage into the fifth.
The Wolves turned that cushion into a decisive margin with contributions throughout the lineup. Two runs came home on Taylor Sawyer's fielder's choice, and Olivia Nagel followed with a sacrifice bunt that scored another. Mackenzie Fritsch, Brooklyn Atha and Goldin delivered run-scoring singles during the inning, while Ansley Kehren brought home a run on a groundout.
Janie Goldin went 3-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored, joining LG Goldin and Ella Pierce Hensley with three hits apiece. Lydia Hamrick and Fritsch each added two hits to round out Buford's 14-hit performance.
The Wolves also stole seven bases, with Janie Goldin and Fritsch collecting two each, and turned a double play behind Jackson.
Buford returns to action Saturday against Creekview.
