SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. – Buford volleyball earned four victories and placed fifth at the Rocky Top Classic, held Sept. 11-12 at the Sevierville Convention Center.

The Wolves finished the two-day tournament with a 4-2 record, winning nine of their 13 sets. Buford earned straight-set victories over Creek Wood, Cherokee, Lawrence County and Sevier County.

Friday: Buford Splits Opening Matches

Buford began tournament play with a 2-0 victory over Creek Wood, winning a competitive opening set, 25-23, before closing the match with a 25-21 victory.

The Wolves returned to the court Friday evening for a three-set battle against Taylor County. After splitting the first two sets, Buford came up just short in the decisive third set and fell, 2-1.

Saturday: Wolves Roll Into Gold Bracket

Buford opened Saturday with a commanding 2-0 win over Cherokee. The Wolves took the opening set, 25-17, and delivered one of their most dominant sets of the weekend with a 25-5 victory in the second.

The Wolves continued their momentum against Lawrence County, recording another sweep with set victories of 25-19 and 25-20.

Buford advanced into the Gold Bracket and defeated Sevier County in straight sets, 25-10 and 25-17, to earn its third consecutive victory of the day.

Buford Finishes Fifth

The Wolves closed the tournament against Woodmont, the event's top-ranked team and eventual champion. Buford remained competitive throughout the match but fell in straight sets, 25-19 and 25-20.

Despite the loss, the Wolves completed a strong weekend against teams from Tennessee, Kentucky and South Carolina, finishing fifth in the tournament standings.

Buford ended the Rocky Top Classic with four sweeps, including three consecutive victories Saturday, while its only losses came against Taylor County and unbeaten tournament champion Woodmont.
