BUFORD, Ga. — Kennedy Townsend delivered 3? scoreless innings to earn the win, and Buford broke a fourth-inning tie with three runs in the fifth to defeat Walnut Grove, 5-2, on Wednesday, Sept. 9.

Townsend allowed four hits without issuing a walk in relief of Taylor Jackson. Jackson struck out six over 3? innings, allowing one hit, two runs and six walks.

Ansley Kehren and Ella Pierce Hensley each finished with two RBIs, while Janie Goldin went 3-for-3 to lead the Wolves' nine-hit effort. LG Goldin added a 2-for-3 performance.

With the teams tied at 2-2 in the fifth, Kehren delivered an RBI single to put Buford ahead. Hensley followed with a two-run double, giving the Wolves a three-run cushion.

Walnut Grove opened the scoring in the third inning when Avery Morgan drew a bases-loaded walk. Buford pulled even in the fourth behind Kehren's solo home run to left field and an RBI single from Lydia Hamrick.

The Wolves also collected five stolen bases, with Janie Goldin and LG Goldin each stealing multiple bags.

Lainey Lanier led Walnut Grove with two hits in three at-bats, and Skylar Ward went 1-for-2 with an RBI. Addie Thompson pitched all six innings for the Warriors, allowing five runs on nine hits with two strikeouts and two walks.

Buford travels to Columbus on Friday and Saturday to play in the Harris County Invitational.
