BUFORD, Ga. — Brooklyn Atha delivered four hits and the Buford softball team erupted for 18 overall as the Wolves earned a 17-4 road victory over Seckinger on Thursday.

The Aug. 20 win moved Buford to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in Region 8-AAAAAAA play. It was the Wolves' second decisive region victory of the week following Tuesday's 14-2 win over Mill Creek.

Atha finished 4-for-6 with three doubles, three RBIs and four runs scored. L.G. Goldin and Janie Goldin also recorded four hits apiece. L.G. Goldin went 4-for-5 with three RBIs and three runs, while Janie Goldin finished 4-for-6 and scored twice.

Wolves Establish Early Control

Buford wasted little time getting its offense going. L.G. Goldin brought home the first run with a single in the top of the first inning, helping the Wolves take an early lead.

The advantage grew in the second when Mackenzie Fritsch stole home and Ella Pierce Hensley lined an RBI single down the left-field line.

Atha collected her first hit with a first-inning single before adding doubles in the fourth, fifth and seventh innings.

Fifth-Inning Surge Creates Separation

The Wolves broke the game open with five runs on five hits in the top of the fifth.

Atha drove in two runs with a double, and L.G. Goldin followed with an RBI single. Ansley Kehren brought home another run on a fielder's choice before Lydia Hamrick completed the outburst with a run-scoring single.

Hamrick was one of four Buford players with multiple hits, finishing 2-for-4.

Late Offensive Explosion Seals Victory

Buford put the game away with six additional runs on four hits in the seventh inning.

Kehren opened the scoring in the frame by launching a solo home run to left field. The Wolves added another run on a Seckinger error before Janie Goldin contributed an RBI single. Atha followed with her third double of the game to drive in another run, and L.G. Goldin capped the inning with a two-run single.

Kehren finished with two RBIs, while Taylor Sawyer drove in two runs and drew three of Buford's nine walks.

The Wolves were equally aggressive on the bases, recording 10 stolen bases. Fritsch led the way with three steals and scored three runs, while L.G. Goldin also stole multiple bases.

Hunter and Jackson Handle Pitching Duties

Carsyn Hunter improved to 2-0 in the circle after striking out five. The right-hander allowed four runs, three earned, on two hits and three walks over 2 2/3 innings.

Taylor Jackson took over in relief and shut down the Jaguars, working 4 1/3 scoreless innings with four strikeouts to earn the save.

The Wolves will return to the road for their next matchup against Dacula.
