COLUMBUS, Ga. — Buford finished the 2026 softball season as the GHSA 7A State Runner-Up, completing a 30-5 campaign that carried the Wolves to the state championship game at South Commons Softball Complex.
Saturday's 15-0 loss to Harrison marked the end of a season whose accomplishments extend well beyond its final afternoon. Buford reached the championship stage with a senior class of seven, closing their careers with a state runner-up finish and leaving a lasting contribution to the program.
Brooklyn Atha, LG Goldin and Ella Pierce Hensley each recorded a hit in the championship game. The Wolves collected three hits against Harrison pitcher Kinsey Carlton, who held Buford scoreless through three innings while striking out two and allowing one walk.
Harrison took an early lead on Nola Tylke's solo home run in the first inning before a 12-run second created the decisive separation. Tylke added a grand slam during that inning and finished 2-for-2 with six RBIs. Taylor Jackson started in the circle for Buford and took the loss.
The Wolves' final record reflects the work that brought them to the last day of the season. Thirty wins and a place in the state championship game give the returning players an accomplishment to build upon, while the seven seniors leave with the program's gratitude for their leadership, dedication and years representing Buford softball.
Their final season ends with Buford among the state's best: 2026 GHSA 7A State Runner-Up.
