BUFORD, Ga. — Buford returns to Phillip Beard Stadium on Friday with two regular-season games remaining and a defense that has allowed just seven points in four region contests. The Wolves host Discovery at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 30, looking to improve to 9–0 and maintain their unbeaten record in Region 8-AAAAAAA.
A 40–0 victory at Mill Creek last Friday moved Buford to 8–0 overall and 4–0 in region play. It also gave the Wolves consecutive shutouts following their 43–0 homecoming win over Collins Hill. Across those two games, Buford scored 83 points without allowing an answer.
That stretch reflects the balance behind the Wolves' season. Buford has scored 310 points and surrendered 53 through eight games, averaging 38.8 points while allowing 6.6 per contest. Six opponents have finished with seven points or fewer.
The separation has been even greater against region competition. Buford opened league play with a 58–0 win at Seckinger, followed by a 48–7 victory at Dacula before shutting out Collins Hill and Mill Creek. Those four wins produced a combined 189–7 margin, with the Wolves averaging 47.3 points and allowing 1.8.
Three shared opponents provide another measure of the matchup. Buford defeated Seckinger, Dacula and Mill Creek by a combined 146–7 score. Discovery lost to those same teams by a combined 86–33 margin. Friday will test whether the Wolves can sustain their scoring pace while extending a defensive run that has yielded three shutouts in four games.
The evening will also feature BHS Faculty Night and Eighth Grade Band Night. Buford remains home the following week to face Central Gwinnett on Nov. 6 in the regular-season finale.
