Five-Run Sixth Lifts Buford Past Cherokee Bluff, 9–5

Janie Goldin delivers a two-run single in the decisive inning, while EP Hensley homers and Taylor Jackson strikes out 10.

BUFORD, Ga. — Buford erased a one-run deficit with five runs in the sixth inning Wednesday, defeating Cherokee Bluff 9–5 at home behind a timely hit from Janie Goldin and a complete-game effort from Taylor Jackson.

Trailing 5–4 entering the bottom of the sixth, the Wolves collected four hits in the inning to regain the lead. Goldin's two-run single helped turn the game in Buford's favor after Cherokee Bluff had held the advantage since the third.

Goldin finished with two hits and four stolen bases, accounting for four of the Wolves' six steals. Ella Pierce "EP" Hensley also collected two hits, including a solo home run to left field in the third that brought Buford within a run.

The Wolves had built a 3–0 lead through two innings. Hensley's first-inning sacrifice bunt produced two runs, and Taylor Sawyer added a solo homer to center in the second. Cherokee Bluff answered with five runs in the third, including a two-run double by Addy Cagle, before Hensley's homer cut the deficit to 5–4.

Jackson kept the Bears scoreless over the final four innings, giving Buford time to respond. She allowed four hits and five runs, four earned, across seven innings, striking out 10 and walking four to earn the victory.

Sawyer finished with two RBI as Buford totaled seven hits. The Wolves travel to Dacula on Thursday, Oct. 1.
